II. Presentation by Tommy Ferguson on Emergency Operations Site Plan, Chase Morris Sudden Cardiac Arrest Response Plan
Discussion:
Mr. Karpe gave the presentation for Tommy Ferguson. He went over the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Response Plan. EMT representative was present. All sports facilities and school buildings have AED machines. All team coaches and administration are trained in how to operate the AEDs.

IV.A. Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
Mr. Karpe gave the utilities report. He stated that the electric meters are all reading correctly now. He also gave the principals reports. Elementary sent 2nd graders to the county fair last month, a book fair will be next week, parent-teacher conferences and a call to excellence will be held at the end of September. Also, all elementary students will be visiting the pumpkin patch in October. Mr. Karpe read Middle and High school students of the month for September. Mr. Karpe thanked the board for their support on the bond. He is very excited about getting started on construction projects. The first construction meeting will be September 10th. A board member brought up parking issues at football games and asked what the plan would be going forward after we build a building that will take up parking spaces. As of right now, no plan has been made for additional parking.

V.H. Discussion and action on correction to the December 11, 2023 Meeting Minutes under Superintendent's Report-Drop out report says 2021-2022 school year. It should be the 2022-2023 school year and read as stated below-
Mr. Karpe gave the drop out and college remediation report for 2022-23 school year. We had 7 dropouts. This is 2.1% for the district. He also read the students of the month for Middle and High School.

Discussion:
New Business-Mr. Karpe explained the city electricity bill and settlement amount on six accounts. These accounts were read wrong and were corrected by the city. He recommended we approve the contract and settle for $43,859.54
Board members brought up concerns over security and how can we enhance our security around campus. Mr. Karpe discussed the recent incidents at other schools and how we can prevent something like that happening here. His main concern is the high students coming in and out of the building. He is currently looking at weapons detection system for doorways. Also, he is placing more teachers around during class changes to watch for potential threats. |
