V.A. Superintendent's Report
Discussion:
Mr. Karpe gave the utilities report. Mrs. Hembree gave the elementary report. She stated last week it was read across America. Several organizations and retired teachers came to read with the elementary students. Six students from elementary won Ag in the Classroom. This is a state wide art contest and Lindsay had the most winners from one school. Last week was also the cereal drive. Elementary collected 128 cereal boxes to donate to the local food bank. She also said the elementary school raised over $9,000 for the read-at-thon fundraiser. Middle school and Elementary Gifted and Talented students traveled to the Regional Food Bank in OKC to help pack boxes and help for a day. The students really enjoyed the field trip. Mr. Ferguson gave the middle school report. He stated the students of the month. He also said that four students from Mrs. Newey's class were selected to have their writing published. The Special Olympics will be starting this week and spring sports are in full swing.
Mr. Karpe gave the superintendent's report. He updated the board on plans for the bond issue coming up later this year. The plan is to renovate the auditorium, update the playground, and build an indoor training facility for all sports. He said he plans to use local contractors where we can and bring in an architect if needed. These updates are much needed, and he looks forward to bringing more information to the next board meeting. |
