12. Board to discuss school budget.
Discussion:
Mr. Thompson passed out an informational sheet to help
start the discussion. He stated this is not political. The budget needs to be balanced, and have an educated look at it. He talked about if school goes over budget it would have to take funds from reserves. To survive the future and keep schools open, changes or cut backs will be necessary, such as cutting staff, taking $1,000.00 stipend from every employee that gets it, doing away with athletics, going to bus stops instead of routes, or moving to one site. The matter was discussed and Pros and Cons were given. Pros-Stay in business, make more money per kid. Cons-Lose faculty, lose programs, lose students, lose quality. If school was to reorganize it would become more efficient with time, money, staffing, and would be able to offer more services. A bond was discussed to become one site, with board members offering input. After a long discussion, Mr. Thompson ask them to think about this matter, and further discussion would take place at next board meeting. |
