January 31, 2022 at 6:30 PM - Board of Education Special meeting

Discussion:  Meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by President Mandy Hedges.

Discussion:  Dr. Joe Siano, Amber Graham Fitzgerald, and Adam Rogers, members of the OSSBA,
provided training to the board members and present staff. Each person was given a
packet, with information covering Roles and Responsibilities, Investing in Students
and the Future,  and Capital Investment Planning, so you could follow along with
what they were talking about, and parts of the packet  were projected upon the wall .
They each introduced themselves, and told us about their background. Dr. Siano
spoke briefly about how the students, government, superintendent, and board
members need to work together with the community.  He then asked the board
to introduce themselves, tell how long they have been on the board, and what's
negative and positive they see regarding board and community working together.
He talked about the role of the school board and superintendent, capital
investments, needs vs wants, and the board talking about a vision for the school
district.
Amber started with why community engagement is important, communicating
your vision, and how sharing on social media is helpful. Alyssa Lee 
 addressed her and told her how much she uses social media to let
everyone know what's going on at the school.
Adam Rogers, Director of Technology, talked about tech assessments and
he could be of assistance if wanting to change anything in our
technology part.  After finishing with their training, some discussion
took place, and it was decided that Mr. Thompson will visit
with Dr. Siano on a regular basis and report back to the board.
