Band-Did great performing at its competition. Overall they received 3 "superior" and 2 "excellent" scores. Color guard-Performed at State. They were amazing and Mr. Harris was extremely proud of them. They competed against 32 schools of all classifications and finished 6th overall. Congrats to them! The Milk Quality Team has been traveling around the state the last couple of weeks. They placed 2nd at the Redlands Judging Contest and 3rd at the Conners State College Judging Contest with Jace Rother Placing 2nd High Individual. They will be traveling to Seminole State to compete again this week and be on the road the next couple weeks with State being on May 4th in Stillwater at OSU. Both are honorees in the Drama/Theatre category. Mrs. Harris is extremely proud of her group! High School Boys golf placed second in small school Clinton tournament and the regional qualifier will be held in Blackwell Oklahoma on April 22 Congratulations to Coach West for being named Coach of the year for the Oklahoma Coaches Association Region 1! The team’s success and style was noticed all across the state and we have had many compliments about him and his team! The state coach of the year will be selected from the 8 region winners in the state. The Coach of the Year will be named this July at Coaches Clinic Congratulations to Mr. Sumrall for being named Region 1 Athletic Director of the year. His work with our hospitality room, the accommodations made to visiting teams, coaches, fans, and officials as well as the efficiency in the way our hosting of Districts and regional tournament is handled by him has earned him this recognition. Excellent job! He will be up for the State AD of the year and it will be awarded at Coaches clinic as well. Testing: Test Administrators and Proctors have been trained in both buildings. 11th grade is halfway through and will finish up this week. 3rd grade will start at the beginning of next week followed by 4th -8th grade. Mrs. K took 18 students to compete at the SWOSU Scholastic Meet. 13 of those students placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their testing area. Okarche won the Language & Literature Division Sweepstakes for our school size. Parker Schieber will be representing Okarche at Boys State this summer. We did not have any Junior ladies apply to go Girl State this year. Mrs. K reports that all but one local scholarship have been distributed to the Senior class. Scholarships will be awarded at the High School Awards Assembly on Friday, May 10th. Sophomore/Junior students are currently enrolling for Summer and Fall Concurrent Classes. This spring we have 30 Junior/Senior students taking concurrent courses at Redlands Community College. Mrs. K reports that we have 6 high school students that were accepted into CareerTech Programs at Canadian Valley for next year. Their program of studies include: Health Careers, HVAC, Esthetician, and Aviation Maintenance. We also have 1 senior that was accepted into the adult program after graduation. Prom was this past weekend, mother nature showed she has a sense of humor but it ended up being a great evening. Promenade was here in front of the high school, then the kids drove to The McGranahan Barn on NW Expressway. No one chose to ride in the transportation provided by the school. The juniors did a great job. Feedback that Mrs. K has received was: the kids liked that they could go outside & walk around, so many picture areas, it wasn’t a gym, and food was great. |
