Superintendent - Rob Friesen
Discussion:
Vaping is a concern. We are working to do some things to try and educate them at a young age of the dangers of vaping. They have a monitor that detect vape. It might be a good investment for us. They are tied into your computer network. In a bathroom- 1 for every 3 stalls. They run about $1,000 a piece. If it detects smoke, it sends a text to the administrator. That is something we are pretty sure we will have a decision on in the next week or two. We are waiting on some more literature. Our policies treat vaping just like smoking regular tobacco. Wednesday- webinar on school security app. Several schools are looking into it. Assessor in Canadian Co asked if Mr. Friesen would sit in on a wind and oil tax protest working group. He plans to attend. We have gotten the settlement with DCP. Some of it will be rolling in soon from the last 4 years. We don't know how much yet. Mr. Friesen was approached last week about Skordle's live streaming option. The equipment is about $2,500. It would get us the set up to broadcast our games. We can have 52 events a year. $1200 a year subscription fee for Okarche.
