3. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Discussion:
Mrs. Dixie Purdy gave the Superintendent's report. First, she had SRO Mull update the board on things in the district. He stated that grades K-8th are running smoothly. The High School is flowing better, but they still have a high number of vapes being confiscated, and the main problem areas are the bathrooms. He stated that the teachers are in the halls between classes and there are fewer students loitering around. He was impressed with this improvement. He stated that SRO Duran was also trying to get an active shooter training class in Guymon.
Mrs. Purdy stated that January is board member appreciation month, and she recognized all our board members for their voluntary contributions to the school district. She also recognized Vickie McKinnon, who recently passed, on her commitment to Guymon Schools not only on the board, but at the schools for many years. Mrs. Purdy gave an update on the HVAC project at the high school. She walked around the school today and noted that it was fairly comfortable throughout the building. We may still have some struggles until all the new air handlers are in and replaced. This will be an ongoing project through the summer. Mrs. Purdy informed the board that Superintendent Rhoades will be starting a Diversity Council soon and will be starting a Superintendent's Advisory Council very soon as well. Lastly, Tiger Talks throughout the district will begin soon, and the survey results will be gone over with the Leadership Team. |
