Site School Improvement Plans
|
|
High School & Junior High
Discussion:
Mr. Johnny Bilby, High School/Junior High Principal, updated the Board on the Sites Improvement Plans for 2012-13. Teachers at both sites used results of common assessments (USA Test Prep benchmarks) to focus PLC (Professional Learning Communities) conversations and to identify students who need intervention. They will continue English II and Algebra I boot camps along with adding English III, Algebra II and Geometry boot camps. They also discussed moving US History back to 10th grade year. They have implemented “ACT Friday” in all math courses and “ACT Friday” in all science courses. Staff will emphasize the importance using PLAN test results as a predictor of ACT scores and schedule a mock ACT test date for every junior. The High School will access GEAR UP money to pay for AP exams and identify gifted students and/or capable students who are not taking advanced coursework and encourage them to take either AP or concurrent enrollment.

Jefferson Heights Elementary
Discussion:
Mr. Tom Walsh, Jefferson Heights Principal, updated the Board on Jefferson Heights Site Improvement Plan. Teachers will use various methods for student intervention. Some of those methods include walk to read intervention classes, power half hour enrichment and remediation groups, Title I intervention classes, reading blocks for upper grades and individual student goals. The sites goals include seeing an overall growth of 15% in the number of third-fifth grade students who score one performance level above in reading and math on the 2014 OCCT exam as compared to 2013 scores. Fifth grade students will increase their overall proficiency to 70% in science and social studies on the 2014 OCCT exam.
