Rationale:
It is now 7:30 A.M., the date is September 4, 2009, and we will now convene the Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education special meeting. This meeting is being held for the purpose of addressing one specific action item, that of consideration of approval for the negotiated contract with GIEA. Notice of this meeting has been advertised in the Grand Island Independent, which is the school district’s designated method of giving notice of these meetings. |

3.1. Approval of Tenative Agreement with Grand Island Education Association

Rationale:
After extensive negotiations between the Board of Education negotiations committee and the Grand Island Education Association a tentative agreement is being proposed for approval. The wage increase is a 2.08% increase on the indexed salary, with a $500 increase in the flat non-indexed base. Additionally, the already negotiated horizontal, vertical, and longevity movement and various other provisions relating to specific groups of employees, benefits, insurance participation, and leaves are also being modified under the tentative agreement.
